Emmy Liu

Managing Editor

Meet Emmy, who joined our team on April 1, 2025.

Emmy Liu is a writer, editor, and creative strategist from NYC. With a background in journalism, brand storytelling, and conversational AI, she has held editorial roles at Mother Tongue, Mission Magazine, and Milk Studios as well as worked extensively as a freelance writer and copyeditor. Her work spans beauty, fashion, art, and culture, driven by deep curiosity and an intuitive understanding of how stories connect people.

She holds a BA in English from Swarthmore College and an MFA in creative writing (fiction) from The New School. Currently, Emmy is working on a full-length novel exploring grief, desire, and the blurred boundaries between intimacy and possession through psychosexual landscapes.

She loves state fairs in the summer, Semiotext(e), playing tennis, drinking Lambrusco, writing confessionals on Letterboxd, finding the magic in the everyday, and using lip liners for everything. Her favorite museum will forever and always be The Met, particularly its African and Medieval collections, though house museums—like Casa Batlló by Gaudí—come in a close second.

While she will miss NYC, she’s excited to experience the magic of a Boston summer, meet so many new people, cheer on the runners at the Boston Marathon (a bucket list item ever since reading What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Murakami), and listen to her favorite song, “Twilight in Boston” by Jonathan Richman, during golden hour over the Esplanade.
